SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS
Policy # 3150

The Board recognizes the need to develop a school volunteer program to support District instructional programs and extracurricular activities. The purpose of the volunteer program will be to:

  1. Assist employees in providing more individualization and enrichment of instruction;
  2. Build an understanding of school programs among interested citizens, thus stimulating wide spread involvement in a total educational process;
  3. Strengthen school/community relations through positive participation.

 Volunteers are persons who are willing to donate their time and energies to the MWCSD in any capacity at any building or to join their child for lunch.  A volunteer may or may not live in the district and may or may not have a child who attends the MWCSD.  Volunteer will not be left alone with students.  This person will fill out an application and be subject to a criminal back ground check and the approval of the School Resource Officer, Principal and the School Board. This process will be completed yearly for each volunteer.   Volunteers shall serve in that capacity without compensation or employee benefits except for liability protection under the District's insurance program.
