The Board of Education encourages students to undertake a diverse and appropriately challenging academic program.  The Board of Education wishes to recognize outstanding academic achievement and shall use a system of computing weighted cumulative grade averages. The Superintendent or his/her designee shall specify a weighted grading system based on the relative rigor of courses.  Class rank and honors shall be determined using weighted grades. A tiered weighted grade system will include Regent’s, Gemini, Honors and Advanced Placement level courses.

The Superintendent or his/her designee is charged with the responsibility to write regulations and procedures to implement and monitor weighted grades.
